As John Lennon has said: “Imagine there’s no heaven/ It’s easy if you try/ No hell below us/ Above us only sky/ Imagine all the people/ Living for today…”,at Benchmark we have wanted to paint all the sky above Kolkata into riot of colours to have all the people live in happiness for a day…
And this wish of ours has turned into the grandiose Kite Festival Vokatta making the sky above the city bloom in innumerable colours, glow in laughter and shimmer in friendly banters.
We believe, all our endeavours should be rooted into our cultural heritage and then we must fly to reach the sky. Exactly this is has been the reason for Benchmark to organize the ever-colourfulVokatta since 2013.
Every year the Kite Fliers deliver a spectacular performance filling the winter afternoon sky at Eco Park with their fabulously innovative kites of different shapes and sizes starting from Biggest Kite to the Smallest Kite of the world – giving the city another reason for pride.
Vokatta started in 2013 and became an instant hit. On people’s demand, in 2014 Vokatta turned into an international festival attracting Kite Flyers not only from parts of India, but countries like USA, Belgium, UK, Netherland, France at al along with the Kite-lovers from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and more.
The last year ceremony also witnessed the excitement of flying the hot air balloon, a live band performance by Mir and his Bandage, followed by the ever mesmerizing Chau Dance of Purulia; and was covered by Kolkata’s most prominent media houses.
Just like exuberant DurgaPuja or Holi, Vokatta promises to be a regular feature on Kolkata’s Festival Calendar and next time Benchmark will organize Vokattawith more grandeur and more Kite Lovers from all over the world…
